12 Foods You’ve Been Eating Wrong

Have you ever tried to enjoy eating something but couldn’t figure out why it was so difficult to eat? What if you found out that it was how you were eating them that made the experience terrible? Below are several foods that you’ve been eating wrong, possibly all your life.

  1. Strawberries

A lot people feel cheated when they eat strawberries because you have to remove the stem which makes you lose almost a third of the fruit. The correct way to eat a strawberry is to push a hollow straw through the center of the fruit from the bottom to the top, leaving behind a much bigger portion of the fruit for you toe enjoy.

  1. Cupcakes

Everyone’s favorite treat can be quite messy. You can possibly relate to trying to eat a cupcake and getting all the frosting your nose, hair, chin or lips. A genius way to eat a cupcake without all the mess, is by twisting off the bottom half of the cake and placing it on top of the frosting, creating a cupcake sandwich. Now you can enjoy your cake without worrying about the mess from the frosting.

  1. Bananas

Why would bananas make the list and yet everyone seems to know how to peel them just fine? Well, there is an even easier way to eat the fruit. Instead of peeling it at the stem, hold it upside down and pinch the little nub on the other end. The banana will pop right open.

  1. Oranges

Do you love eating this fruit but get tired with how hard it is to peel at times? There is an easier way to peel an orange, and it only involves three slices. Cut off the top and bottom parts of the fruit. Next, make a cut in the middle from one end to the other. Peel off the top skins, and open up your orange. It’s that easy!

  1. Mangoes

This tasty yellow fruit is a favorite among tropical areas and with summer here, it means you’ll get to enjoy more of the fruit. An easy, and less messy way of eating a mango is by cutting on both sides of the seed. Cut cubes into the two halves, both horizontally and vertically. For extra fun, instead the halves onto a wooden stick and eat it as you would an ice cream.

  1. Chinese take-out

This one may surprise you, but did you know that you’re not supposed to eat Chinese take-out from the box? The boxes were designed to open up into paper plates. The next time you order Chinese, don’t go rushing to the kitchen to get plates. Opening up the boxes is a win-win, you get to eat and not have to do the dishes too!

  1. Pomegranate

Most people avoid eating pomegranates because of how hard it seems to remove the seeds. It takes the fun out of eating the fruit because of the amount of time you’ll spend taking out the seeds. A better way of enjoying this fruit would be to cut it into half. Take one half and use a spoon to tap onto the fruit to remove the seeds. Make sure you have a bowl underneath to capture all the seeds. You can be creative and sprinkle the seeds onto some yogurt, oatmeal, or any other dessert.

  1. Boiled eggs

Even though boiled eggs are the healthier alternative, some people prefer their eggs fried simply because they do not want to deal with the hassle of peeling the shell off the egg. A nifty trick you could try next time you boil some eggs is to add a teaspoon of baking soda into the water. Since baking soda is alkaline, it will soften the water which will help loosen the bond between the egg and its shell.

  1. Baked potatoes

More often than not, baking potatoes always ends up with them coming out dry and unevenly cooked. The next time you want to try this recipe, wash and peel your potatoes (if you prefer them peeled) then make one-inch cuts into the sides of the potatoes. Fill the cuts with butter or cream cheese and bake for a few minutes. The cuts will allow for heat to reach the center of the potato, helping it cook evenly.

  1. Tacos

Tacos are a favorite for many reasons, one of them being that they are a tasty and filling snack. Eating them can get messy though, and that is because the filling tends to seep out of the sides of the taco. To avoid this, take some fresh lettuce and wrap it around your taco. You can now bite into it without worrying about it getting messy. What’s more is that you get to add an extra healthy ingredient.

  1. Ice cream

It’s a hot day, temperatures are soaring. You get home and excitedly reach for your tub of ice cream. You realize that you’ll have to wait a bit for it melt. Quickest way to get ice cream out of a tub is to soak the tub in hot water for a minute. The ice cream will separate from the tub making it easier to scoop out. Another tip is to run your ice cream spoon under hot water for a few seconds. Use it while hot to scoop out some ice cream from the tub. The heat melts the ice cream, making it easier to serve.

  1. Kiwi

Despite it being a super fruit, kiwis are very hard to peel and slice. They’re soft, and often get mashed in the process. One easy way to eat a kiwi fruit is to slice it in the middle, then scoop out the fleshy part using a spoon into a bowl. Alternatively, you could cut the kiwi into thin slices then peel off the skin before eating it.

By knowing how many of these foods can be eaten differently, you can now hope to enjoy a fuss-free eating experience with them.
